TALLAHASSEE - William Dawson “Bill” Gunter, Jr., age 89, died peacefully at his home in Tallahassee, FL, surrounded by family on April 8, 2024. He was part of a group of Florida public officials in the nineteen seventies and eighties, including Governors Reubin Askew, Lawton Chiles and Bob Graham, following the tradition of Governor LeRoy Collins in their commitment to the principles of good government and social justice. Gunter served in the Florida Senate, the U.S. Congress, and on the Florida Cabinet as Insurance Commissioner, State Treasurer and Fire Marshall for 12 years.

A new professional recording studio has come to Live Oak, Wichita Sound Studio. Owner, Jerry Guy, a retired Nashville studio musician that traveled the country for many years, working as a side-man for artists like Vern Gosden, The Hager Twins, Ronnie Milsap, Willie Nelson, Herold White and others.
During his years in Nashville as a studio musician, he learned the industry from the ground up and fell in love with the engineering side of the music industry.

North America is all abuzz as many throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico prepare to see the April 8, 2024 total eclipse sweep across these three nations.
Although Florida is not in the path of totality, according to NASA, Florida will still see a partial eclipse beginning around 1:35 p.m. with the midpoint at approximately 2:55 p.m. Do not look directly at the eclipse with your naked eye. It can instantly damage your eyes. Be sure to wear eclipse glasses, not regular sunglasses.

Suwannee County Tax Collector Sharon Jordan announced she is seeking re-election in a press release last week.
