After making landfall in Steinhatchee, Florida, as a Category 1 hurricane at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, Hurricane Debby, which was downgraded to a tropical storm hours later, raged through Florida, taking a similar path to Hurricane Idalia just one year ago. Power Restoration Full Speed Ahead at Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC)

LIVE OAK, Fla., August 6, 2024 (8:00 a.m.) – Crews worked late into the night to restore power following Hurricane Debby. As of 7:00 a.m. today, power had been restored to over 6,300 consumers who lost power due to the storm. All substations have transmission service except for the Smith substation, serving the southwest portion of Lafayette County, including the town of Day. Duke continues to work diligently to have that service restored.
