SVEC Preparing for Helene

Submitted by SVEC Communications

Here we go again, folks.

SVEC has activated its Emergency Restoration Plan in preparation for wide-spread outages that could be caused by soon-to-be Hurricane Helene.
We are closely monitoring storm forecasts from multiple weather services and our employees are ready to work long hours to meet the needs of our members. The co-op has lined up hundreds of contractors for help with restoring power, and our statewide association is standing by to coordinate assistance from other electric cooperatives if needed.

We encourage everyone to have a plan for riding out extended outages, and those of you who rely on life-supporting medical equipment should be ready to go to a location that has power, in the event that the power to your home goes out.

Outage Reporting
If you experience a power outage, you can report it by:
  • Calling 800-752-0025.
  • Logging into your account.
  • Using our SmartHub mobile app.
  • Texting “out” to (800) 752-0025 from the phone number we have on file for your account. Before you can do so, you’ll need to sign up for our text-based outage reporting service by texting “svec” to 800-752-0025. This service is only available to members with less than 5 accounts. Members with 5 or more accounts must report outages using one of the other methods.
More Information
We appreciate the trust you place in your co-op and are committed to keeping you informed. Visit the Outage Center on our website for information on how to prepare for a major storm, how to safely operate a generator, and how the co-op goes about restoring power after a storm. You can stay up to date on the status of the co-op's restoration efforts and progress by visiting our Storm Updates page and following our social media channels.

Stay safe everyone!
