Gun bill may expand gun rights for elected officials

In light of shootings that have occurred at government meetings in various states, including city commission meetings in New Hope, Minnesota; Kirkwood, Missouri; Ross Township, Pennsylvania; and Mount Pleasant, Iowa, two gun bills are moving through the legislature that would allow certain elected officials/members to carry a firearm during meetings.

A Look Back At 2019

January is a time that we anticipate fresh starts, new achievements and better health. We want to put the past behind us and embrace all that is right. It is a time to acknowledge those who have positively impacted us and those who made us smile. We recognize the importance of reflecting on the past year or even the past decade to see what we got right. Conversely, we want to see where we went wrong so we might avoid the same mistakes.

Effective Monday, December 23, 2019, Third Judicial Circuit State Attorney Jeff Siegmeister has announced he is retiring after serving the circuit since 2012.

According to a statement released on his behalf by a Gainesville attorney, Bobi J. Frank, Siegmeister is retiring because of a personal matter he is working through, specifically his marriage to Jamie Siegmeister, of 13 years.

Agriculture has always been the economic cornerstone of North Florida. It continues to drive our economy, and probably always will. Every crop is, in a way, a field of dreams. The past few decades, however, have brought immense changes to the social impact that agriculture has on our North Florida communities.
The whole landscape of agriculture in our area has certainly changed. Row crops are grown under pivot irrigation systems and ground is prepared with gigantic tractors that are equipped with global positioning systems.
