A bill called “K-12 Education” (HB 1467) is receiving a lot of attention. It has been called one of the most controversial education proposals of the 2022 legislative session.
The education bill passed the Florida House last week with 78 Yeas - 40 Nays and is now off to the Senate. The bill is sponsored by Rep. Sam Garrison, R-Fleming Island.

Live Oak, Fla., – Can a computer “taste” a tomato or a blueberry? Well, not exactly, but it can tell scientists which volatiles in these fruits make them taste good, say University of Florida researchers.

Tallahassee, Fla., – Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will be visiting the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on March 14-16 to examine all aspects of the department’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services. As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments. Comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.

The spread of a new variant of the Omicron strain, BA.2 was detected in Denmark in December. It has now spread throughout the UK and is rapidly spreading in the US. Early last week, US health officials reported only three cases. By the end of the week, officials said that half of the states in the US reported BA.2 cases.
