Live Oak, Fla., – The inaugural All Aboard Festival, coming February 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is the second of three festivals organized and hosted by Suwannee Festivals, a collaboration of the Suwannee River Regional Library, UF/IFAS Suwannee County Extension, and the Live Oak Artists Guild.

The new event, held at Heritage Square in downtown Live Oak, will feature a variety of family-friendly activities: antique car show, docent tours at the renovated museum, historians Eric Musgrove and Joe Knetsch, a touch-a-truck area, kiddie ride, youth activities, games, and more! Heritage Square is the area surrounding Haines Street which is between the Chamber of Commerce, the Fire Station, the Museum, and the North Florida College Campus. For GPS the Museum address is 108 Ohio Ave. N., Live Oak, Fl. 32064.

“After the pandemic, we weren’t really seeing people getting together as a community,” Katherine Allen, Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent for UF/IFAS Suwannee County Extension, said in a press release. “When we did a focus group, the consensus was that people would like to have low-cost events to be able to attend.” Allen explained that organizers also wanted to help community members in their entrepreneurial efforts, whether it was a food truck or selling handmade soap, “So the low vendor fee makes it more reasonable to participate.”

“We had an amazing turnout for the North Florida Fall Heritage Festival in November at Heritage Park and Gardens.” added Marlene Mitchell, Youth Librarian for the Suwannee River Regional Library System, in the release. “Heritage Park and Gardens is a beautiful venue, we had fantastic weather and great support from the community!”

Suwannee Festivals’ third festival will be the Wildflower Festival back at Heritage Park and Gardens, on April 27, 2024, from 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

“I have wanted to have a wildflower festival for years and we are making my dream become a reality!” Anda Chance, Live Oak Artists Guild President reported in the release. “Everyone loves wildflowers!”

The trio wrote a grant that was submitted by the Suwannee River Regional Library and has received partial funding from the state.

“We couldn’t make these festivals happen without our partners throughout the county and city. Everyone has been great about pitching in and helping make something for us all to enjoy,” added Allen.
