A local documentary film Hero Horse: A Magical True Story, with our very own Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horse Magic in the staring role, was chosen by the Manhattan Film Festival.
The film is an official selection of the Manhattan Film Festival and was presented on Sunday, June 18th at 1:00 PM at the Cinema Village Theater in New York. Owner Debbie Garcia-Bengochea is excited to announce Magic will walk the red carpet in her tuxedo in New York City on that day.
According to the film festival’s website, the documentary is described as follows: “Hero Horse” honors the award winning work of a tiny therapy horse named Magic. Magic was called in to comfort survivors and first responders at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC, the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, FL, the condo collapse in Surfside, FL, the survivors of the Moore, OK Category 5 tornado and the fires of Gatlinburg, TN. Magic will be attending her film to “walk the red carpet” in her tuxedo.
According to Garcia-Bengochea, on June 23rd, Magic will be honored by the Florida Bar with the Rikki Mitchell Animal Achievement Award at their annual conference (with 2000 lawyers attending) in Palm Beach. She will be the first horse to receive the award and the first horse ever allowed inside the famous Boca Raton hotel for the presentation.
