Hamilton County Resident shoots intruder holding them hostage — A win for the good guys!

Jasper, Fla., – According to a press release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, they - along with FDLE and the State Fire Marshall are investigating two deaths discovered on the same day to see if they are connected. 

In the early hours of August 17,

the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was contacted in reference to a vehicle fire located near the intersection of County Road 143 North West and County Road 146 North West. Investigators discovered a burned vehicle which contained an apparent deceased body. HSCO contacted the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the State Fire Marshalls Office for crime scene and investigative assistance.

Through investigative efforts, the victim was identified (as) an individual reported missing from Broward County who had last been in the company, (of) Akeeme Cordell Brown.

Mid-afternoon that same day, HCSO received a call from an individual who reported shooting an intruder who had been holding residents of a home at gun point. Investigators from HCSO, FDLE and the State Attorney’s Office responded to the residence and observed a deceased subject at that location.

HCSO and FDLE continue to move forward with investigative efforts, and to determine if the deaths are connected. The investigations remain active.
