Career Day Feb 17, 2022 – In person this year!
Submitted by Tracy Henderson
Live Oak, Fla., – This is a reminder that the RIVEROAK Career Day & Program Showcase is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 17th from 9:00 to 1:30. Our goal is to once again have the opportunity to provide Suwannee area students and the general public with information about career, education and training choices that are available. Many of our adult citizens are completing their CTE courses and will be entering the job market in the near future.
Weather permitting, the event will be held outdoors in the front parking lot of our campus adjacent to Pinewood Drive. We have a "plan" in place for inclement weather. The set-up is similar to our previous events. For those participating for the first time, I have the following suggestions.
We would like to be ready for students and the public by 8:45; therefore, please try to set up before this time.We will block the front of the campus and the middle access entrance to vehicle traffic at 8:45. The east entrance is where business/organization partners will find the easiest parking. Penny Lane to the west (across from Springcrest Elementary School) will also be open and accessible.
Upon arriving, please locate the Registration Table. This table will be near the front door of RTC. In your packet you will receive a meal ticket for your free lunch(es). This year the Culinary Program is serving a Chili Bread Bowl. Water is also provided. Your packet also includes an Event Evaluation form. Please return this form to any RTC staff member before you leave the campus.
This year,
1. Stevie D from 98.1 WQHL Radio Station will be broadcasting live throughout the day.
2. LifeSouth Bloodmobile will be parked in the front of the campus, and is available all day.
3. Once again the Airlife 7 Medic helicopter may land in front of the building if the skies are clear. It is epic, but will create quite a rotor wash! You may want to begin the day with your brochures and paperwork rubber banded together. And, have someone hold down the tent/canopy!
4. Peggy and John Hickey, K9 trainers, will be bringing K9 officers to the event with a presentation on the front lawn at 10:00.
There are two things I will need from you:
1. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED A TENT CANOPY, OR IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN. We will provide the tables and chairs. We have a few tents.
2. PLEASE BRING US A BUSINESS CARD OR LETTERHEAD. We are setting up a display that day, and will use this for social media exposure.
We have many volunteers and staff ready to direct and assist you as needed with set-up, and throughout the event. Feel free to call my cell phone before or during the event (386.365.0001). Thank you for your willingness to participate. I will see you on the 17th!
