HCA Healthcare North Florida Division announced the appointment of Jill Adams as Chief Executive Officer of Lake City Medical Center located in Columbia County. She began her new

role July 23, 2021. Adams has served as Chief Financial Officer of Lake City Medical Center for more than 20 years.

Lake City Medical Center is a 93-bed hospital with oversight of Suwannee ER, a free-standing emergency department. Together, these sites of care serve nearly 90,000 patients each year. Adams succeeds Rick Naegler, who served as CEO of Lake City Medical Center from 2018 to 2021.

“Jill is a mission-driven leader and an invaluable community advocate who has played a central role in Lake City Medical Center’s continued growth,” said Richard Hammett, President, HCA Healthcare North Florida Division. “Having served 30 years in healthcare leadership, Jill has the experience and operational expertise to assure Lake City Medical Center’s growth and clinical excellence for generations to come.”

Adams’ extensive history with Lake City Medical Center includes leading multiple projects to expand its capacity and services to the community. Following the recent announcement of the opening of the hospital’s new 12-bed inpatient unit, Adams will now oversee Lake City Medical Center’s next phase of unprecedented growth including its $36 million upgrade to the hospital, centered on several critical services including emergency services, bringing the total to 40 beds specific to emergency needs.

“Leading Lake City Medical Center in this new role is one of the honors of my career,” said Jill Adams, CEO, Lake City Medical Center. “As one of the only hospitals in the area, we know that our responsibility to meet the needs of our community is great. Providing care closer to home is important to our patients and their families and it is our goal to continue to do all that we can to deliver a continuum of high-quality care for Columbia, Suwannee, and surrounding counties.”

“Jill has been a champion for this community for decades, and I am excited she has been selected as the new CEO of Lake City Medical Center,” said Lex Carswell, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Lake City Medical Center and Columbia County School Superintendent.  “As community leaders, we want to ensure we are prepared for future growth and I know Jill is the right person to help accomplish this mission for our residents. I look forward to continued success at Lake City Medical Center.”

Adams has a Master of Business Administration, is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
