Tropical Storm Elsa - Columbia County: Sandbags, Shelters, and Closings
Columbia County, Fla., – Columbia County officials took part in the 11:15 conference call update with the National Hurricane Center, State Emergency Operations, and the Governor’s office. Rain fall in Columbia County is estimated to be between 2-4 inches general and 4-6 inches closer to the eye of the storm. Some areas may see locally heavier amounts. Updates
- Sandbags – Columbia County will distribute sandbags today, July 6, from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm. There is a fifteen (15) bags per person limit. Elderly assistance is available at each location. Sandbags will be distributed at the following locations:
- Columbia County Public Works, 607 NW Quinten St, Lake City, FL 32055
- Ft. White Community Center, 17579 FL-47, Fort White, FL 32038
- Shelters – Three shelters will be open from 8:00 pm this evening, July 6, until 6:00 pm tomorrow, July 7. Individuals with special needs will have power supply for medical devices. These shelters are SHELTER ONLY, as no food or beverages will be provided. Shelter locations are as follows:
