By Andrea Thomas, Park Communications Specialist - Along the banks of the historic Suwannee River, Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park, in White Springs, held its 73rd Annual Florida Folk Festival over Memorial Day Weekend.
Named a “Top 20 Event” in the Southeast, folk artists have come together for this event since 1953, to celebrate Florida’s land, people, and diverse cultural heritage. From Irish fiddle tunes and frozen key lime pie to the wide varieties of music and dance brought by immigrants from around the globe, the Florida Folk Festival celebrates our state’s cultural heritage and reflects the lives of generations of Floridians.
Visitors enjoyed over 300 performances by Florida’s greatest artists, including national recording artists, songwriters, and musicians.
Event goers were invited to participate in jam sessions, take workshops, enjoy local eats, see educational exhibits, visit with various vendors, take a dance lesson, and hear stories from all over the state.
For an unforgettable weekend, make plans to attend the 74th annual Florida Folk Festival next year.
