Elsie “Wanda” Warner Henderson
February 5, 1937 to April 19, 2025
Elsie “Wanda” Warner Henderson, 88, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025. Born on February 5, 1937, in Live Oak, Florida, Wanda lived a life of faith, service, and deep love for her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph E. Henderson; her parents, Sadie, and Carl Warner; and eight siblings: Ray Warner, Ruth Robinson, Katherine Proveaux, Edward Warner, Robert Warner, Charles Warner, and Winston Warner. Wanda is survived by two siblings, Dorothy Jean Johns and Revis Warner.
She leaves behind a loving legacy through her children: Letha Grandy (Glenn), Carl Henderson (Janet), Anna Blestel (George), and Regina Callahan (Tim). Wanda was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Wanda dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She retired as a Child
Development Specialist from the Charles Lea Center in Spartanburg, SC, and served as Shelter Supervisor at The Haven, a homeless shelter in Spartanburg. Her compassion extended to every corner of her life.
For the past 45 years, she was a devoted member of Graham Chapel Church in Mayo, SC, where she volunteered faithfully as the meal train coordinator. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, crocheting, and spending time with her cherished family and friends. Known for her exceptional cooking, Wanda’s culinary skills were legendary—her family often joked that she could make dirt taste good.
Funeral services for Wanda were held on April 26, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wanda’s memory to Graham Chapel Church. Wanda’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and the joy of simple things. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
